IMO the best class is:
MP40 Round Drum
Bandolier
Double Tap (you will kill someone almost always 1 on 1 if they have stopping power because thig gun kills in the same amount of shots with stopping power and without, so you will shoot quicker

For longer range maps, like Outskirts or Airfield, I use the stg w/ silencer, betty's , stopping power, martyrdom. It stays pretty still when shooting long range, but you will get pawned cqc. I know it's not a smg, but pretty close. For smaller maps, either thompson round drum, grenades X 2, stopping power, martyrdom or same exact class w/ mp40 and dual mags. If playing HQ, always silenced mp40 , betty's, stopping power and martyrdom. Does steady aim help that much with double tap?
mp40 silenced with bomb squad, stopping power and steady aim (runs the show) or if you wanna spray use a ppsh with round drum and bandolier, doubletap and steady aim
