Ok so there is a lot of information about this subject. Apparently, Dr Richtofen was the creator of the zombies and dogs. Throughout Der Reise, the radios tell the story of how he is training the zombies and what not. He killed Dr Maxine and his daughter samantha by locking them in a room with a hell hound. Also you hear a transmission to Peter. Peter is the man who is hung in Shi No Numa. What happened was he went there with 3 other soldiers and Dr Richtofen. They turned the power on and it triggered the zombies. When Peter went to turn it off Dr Richtofen cut his hand off. Either he hung himself to escape the zombies or Richtofen killed him. Most likely he hung himself to escape the zombie outbreak, as instructed in the field manual which is found in Der Reise. The man who sent the transmission to peter in shi no numa is the man you see hung in Der Reise. Now Richtofen then went to Shi No Numa with the wonder waffle and the meteorite. The meteroite is from the crash at tungaskan or something like that. And it contains an element which powers the Wunder Waffle DG-2 and creates the zombies. He went to Shi No Numa to finish his work on the wunder waffle. Dempsey, Nikolai, and Takeo are sent to investigate the swamp. Richtofen then realized the zombies could not be controlled and joined up with the group. They then escaped the swamp and headed to Der Reise. in Der Reise there are a total of 7-8 radios that tell the story of the experiments with the zombies and dogs. One also tells how he murdered Dr Maxine and his daughter. The Daughter "Samantha" is the voice you hear throughout the game. Including the random box. The randombox being her toy box. Once you trigger the fly trap. It starts a mini game called hide and seek where you need to find a monkey and 2 bears. Apparently after doing this a certain way (Not Going to Reveal) and shooting the red lights on the moon. You are able to get the Type 99 from the box. This has not been confirmed. There is no proof of anyone unlocking the Type 99. That is what I know so far. I may have forgotten to mention a few things but you get the idea.

Ya I was in the room with the trench gun and was next to the door type thing and I had to reload and it activated another radio and it was when Dr. Max was giving his daughter a dog and he was telling her to take care of her and then he something and that was that now fluffy (or whatever the dogs name was ) is going to have puppies then his daughter said ooh daddy can I keep them to? then Dr. Max said maybe.

Then i another room I saw a radio so I pressed [] or X and it worked and it was pretty long and I think that Dr. Max was experimenting on fluffy then his daughter walks in saying " Daddy what are you doing to fluffy?" Dr. Max says in anger "Damnit Samantha I told you to never come in here!!" and then I think that Samantha ( Dr. Max's daughter ) watches fluffy turn into a flaming hell hownd and gets scared and Max is sying stuff like stay right next to me samantha and then Dr. Max's assistant ( posibly Dr. Richtofen ) locks them both in the "Death Chamber " and laughs then says goodbye Dr. Max then they both die and in the first radio I was talking about Dr. Max says "fluffy will have puppies" and then Dr. Max experimented on fluffy and mad her into the first flaming hell hound then fluffy had puppies and they were flaming hell hounds
