Possibly a factory to create the weapon. Also in the time limit to link the portals to the mainframe it sounds like Dr. Richtofen is doing the count down to link them. He also says alot of stuff as soon as you join the game. ( Like we must link the portals together or Dempsey will say " Richtofen! get them to stop ( when the zombies are attacking))

Richtofen is a nazi, he most liikely got there by the ufo. ( The fly trap must be where it crashed because of the way it spins and flys away.

Also, in reply to the oversized Wunder wuffe ammo, I believe it was made big first, the was made into the small gun known as wunder wuffe DG, because in a little note in the map, it says, something that stands for DG can't remember what it was, "DG is now mobile", thats the translation, hence it's now mobile ie the gun.
