You need to open the patch on your computer, to do this you need either an .ffviewer or you could do it manually. For example you could use one of these (I personally use BuC-Shotz) ;

Yes if the 'modder' is host of the lobby then he can use his mod menu to give mods to anyone who happens to be in the lobby...so yeah people without hacks can be invited into the lobby

You can downgrade your ps3 to 3.55 and then jailbreak it. However to downgrade you will need to buy an E3 flasher and install it which is a little complicated...
