If say in a few years someone does manage to bypass the security and release a jailbreak I just wanted to know if by replacing the hard drive in the PS4 when a jailbreak in theory has been released and patched with another update could you simply replace the hard drive and just 'downgrade' through that route, like put an earlier version update file on the new hard drive and if it is that simple haven't sony made it a lot easier for a possible jailbreak to be exploited even futher than the PS3 or is it more complicated ?

This cannot be done on the PSP, PS3 or PSVita so do you really think that Sony would allow people to downgrade by swapping HDD's if they haven't in there last consoles?
Short answer is no because the FW or at least some part of it is wrote to the NOR/NAND of the console which means that you need to patch a dump of it to allow it to be downgraded this is why we all need a E3/Progskeet/Teensy++ to downgrade a PS3 at first otherwise we would all be swapping HDD's over....
