I've been wondering if it's possible to downgrade the firmware of the ps4 by switching the HDD or wiping the HDD completely from the ps4 'recovery menu'. I'm only curious and I don't actually know as I don't have a spare HDD atm to test it... If someone could shed some light on this for me that would be grand... As I said I'm only curious and if it's similar to the PS3 with saving the update on the nor/nand chip...

If you have a Non-Retailed PS4, you can downgrade/upgrade your firmware by following some steps with your usb, and by downloading the firmware you want. PS4 Pro isn't really possible. Especially with the word I got from SC58 even devkits can't downgrade/upgrade. If you own a Normal PS4 that's Non-Retailed Devkit/Testkit, you can downgrade.
