More specifically, if the ps4 jailbreak has indeed been successfully obtained, then what all can be done with it and what is its potential. I am currently a ps3 Modder and i am used to using target manager. Is there or will there be such software for ps4 debugging? I do not yet have a ps4 and have been waiting for an actual working - debug capable ps4 to become possible. i have been surfing the net in regards to this information and i cannot decipher what is fact and what is fiction. Can someone please give me some truth regarding this matter? i would greatly appreciate it*

As for jailbreak status, the PS4 on firmware 4.01 was seemingly jailbroken by the Chinese hacking group, Chaitin. Their exploit has not been released, and they quickly reported it to Sony to patch by 4.06. There is reason to believe Flatz, a well known PS3 homebrew dev, knows about the method, but besides that, it has seriously reduced further developments with this exploit taken away. But considering Slim and Pro ship with 3.70 firmware, if the exploit ever becomes public, you may be able to modify them as well. Only time will tell.

hopefully in the future it will be reasonabley the same as PS3 modding, as in the customization, debugging modding etc, but im sure we are probally not going to see a full and functional "jailbreak" for a while, Sony is working hard to make sure that what happen to the PS3 wont happen to the PS4 lol, but it is possible, but yeah, PS4 Jailbreak devs have been close, but it is far from perfect and ready to be a jailbreak, and even if people did make one and stuff whether it would be released could be a different matter as they would probably be faced with a heafty sueing from sony lol

yeah i read about the whole Chinese thing and honestly, when i learned that they reported it to sony, my heart sank..very depressing.. so what, you guys think we are looking at, at least another year or so until full modification functionality? p.s. i really appreciate the input

probably id say so, finding more exploits will take some time as i think they would be getting pretty hard to find, id say a only sort of realistic hope would be if sony fucks something up bad, like they did on PS3 with the 3.55 fw

Just remember some devs in the scene have hinted in knowing what vulnerability the Chinese hackers used, so they might be working on it diligently. If success, and they release, then it should be applicable to all 3 PS4 types: fat, slim, pro. Geohotz can't help in any way, sorry.

Chaitin Hackers reported the exploits to Sony. On the newer firmware 4.06, it patched the 4.01 Exploits. The PDF File that conveyed all the exploits, and how they did it makes it 90% useless, but we can actually see how they did it in order to see if we can use that strategy on other firmwares.

On PS4, many Reverse Engineers are exploiting targets through WebKits, while some other individuals doing it another way.

Foward to an answer to your question, we'll see a Jailbreak soon in my opinion. We're getting there everyday closer from what I see. Don't think we'll be able to get online, and get a "CFW". CFW's are probably aren't going to happen. Don't hold your breath on it though. Remember, i'm not a developer, but I do have a bit back knowledge though. Hope I helped you out with your question.
