Post: Why doesn't Sony allow us to use other people's saves?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); If trophies are the concern, why not just lock/disable trophies for save files that aren't yours, but otherwise allow people to share save files (at least for single player purposes)?

I can't see any downside. In this scenario you would be able to start a game at a friend's house and continue it on your own system without having to sign into your account. People who lose save data due to corruption could more easily find other saves out there to help recover some progress. And for other people like myself who have limited free time but want to experience some of the secrets a game has to offer, we can mess around with those special end-game equipment or game modes without having to go through countless hours of boring repetitive grinding to get there. Gone are the days where I have the time or patience to spend dozens or hundreds of hours grinding away in games like Final Fantasy X just so I can get the legendary weapons and defeat the post-game bosses. Let me grab someone else's save so I can experience those weapons/optional content, just don't reward me with trophies for doing so unless I do it on my own save file.

Why would they let others do that? It's cheating, plus you could gain trophies from them as well. Sadly, trophy resigning is out for DevKits. Gamesaves should be coming soon though.

I don't see how we could gain trophies from them in the scenario I'm talking about. What I'm saying is...allow us to trade saves, but lock trophies for saves that aren't ours. If I download and use your save, for example, I should not get any trophies from that save for anything that you've done or anything that I continue to do on that save. Trophies should only pop if I have my own file and make my own progress there.

The only way I could see it be considered cheating in a harmful manner is if trophies could pop when you used someone else's save. Or if you can use someone else's save for multiplayer purposes. Otherwise, there's absolutely no harm to any other player if someone willingly gives me their save file strictly for my own single player enjoyment with no trophies involved. I'm not jumping up a few spots on the trophy leaderboard and therefore surpassing players who earned trophies the legit way, and I'm not impeding on anyone's multiplayer enjoyment.

They enabled where it doesn't let you gain trophies even if you use game saves. What I mean is many users use Resigning to enable trophies, and use these saves to cheat the system to have everything unlocked. Since Resinging is officially out for only DevKits. I'm sure gamesaves will be next soon.
