(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so I logged onto my laptop yesterday after about 5 days, and it said (on the desktop and as a message{the kind that pop up then go away when the click the little x} that my computer might be at risk for software counter-fieting. I have no clue what this means . . . but it also said click here (with a link) to a Windows Guinuine Protections site for help. I installed the software that it said to and clicked the continue button but nothing happened. WTF!

It was probably a virus. You DO have a virus scanner installed, don't you?

nope its not a virus if you were premium i made a thread on windows 7 not genuine. i had the same problem and in the bottom left of you screen it says
windows 7
build 7600- or what ever u have
this copy of windows is not genuine

then it gives u a time to enter a genuine key code right?

i made a great thread on how to fix this problem but they moved it to premium so here is the program that will help u and make your computer back to normal trust me it has no virus

Do you have a bootleg copy of Windows 7 installed on your computer? The reason I ask is because I have a friend who has a bootleg copy installed on his pc and his gets the same exact error. I installed a bootleg Windows 7 Ultimate on mine but I found a valid product key for it and it works like a charm with no crazy errors (yet). It was a open license key. That was about a month ago and it went through the install just fine and all the Windows updates finished with no problems. Ive got a key if you want to try it.

Never install anything if you don't know what it is. And if you don't know what it is, look it up on Google. The answer is out there my friend.

Im not to sure about XP. The key I have there is for 7 Ultimate. If you know somebody that has 7 or if you know somewhere you can download it, the key listed will activate it with no trouble. You ought to think about changing your OS. I was a diehard fan of XP untill I tried 7 and since then I havent looked back. I wasnt a fan of Vista so I just stuck it out with XP. Im thinking you could have a virus or some type of malware you picked up along the way. Try using your antivirus and see what it pulls up. As a last resort just save the info you want and format it and start over fresh. If you do that, make sure that you're not caring over the infected data.
