It says press f9 for boot, f10 for setup, and f12 for something else. It doesn't ever load up, and when I try any of those they just go to a screen with a little flashing bar at te top, and words saying like, boot menu, at the bottom. Can anyone help me or tell me what's going on?

Alright when you get to the compaq screen press either F8 or esc... then it should give you the option for loading up in safe mode... click that and let it load.. and then if it loads up do a system restore to about 2 weeks ago (just to be safe) if that doesnt work you might have to wipe your hard drive... Depending on the model and year you might need a factory reset disk.. If you had more info I might be able to help you a little more....

This happened to my parents laptop. They had to take it in for it to get it fixed. The guy said he had to reset everything. It was mostly from a bad virus and also the hard drive might be going bad. So that is all what he said. We got it fixed for 150$. So that is what you might have to do.

You dont have to pay necessarily, If you have the factory reset disk then you can reset it your self.... or there may be a partition that has a back up on it.... Dont waste your money lol...

It's most likely a virus, repair it. CLOSED.
