it runs out of battery when it is shut down.
it was on 50 percent and the next day it ran out
i press the power button and it doesnt start up i have to plug in the power.
any ideas?
also i always have to install updates when i shut it down
can that have an affect?

What can you say its Toshiba :banhamma: :p. I just bought new battery for my acer of eBay and it hold power for 4 hours, i dont know why yours drains battery like that it shouldn't whenn computer is off

Not sure why you're experiencing those problems. My battery was fine until I accidentally left it charging ALL night while the battery was already at 100% :n: That ****s up your battery man! What I do now is just plug my laptop into the charger without the battery. Basically in desktop mode :p
