No I wouldnt advise doing what is posted below your first post, Download visual basic Express (Its all you will ever need) And all you have to do to activate it is register a Microsoft VB account.

Either download Visual Studio 2010 then search for a KeyGen or i would advise you to search ''Visual Basic 2008 Download'' on google and click on the one that takes you to the microsoft website and just download and install. It is completely free and there is hardly a difference between 2008 and 2010.

1. Get Ubuntu
2. open terminal
3. type vi main.cpp
4. Type "a" and then type this:
#include <iostream>

using namespace std;

int main()
{
cout << "Hello World" << endl;
return 0;
}

5. Press escape
6. Type ":wq" and then press enter
7. Type "g++ -o HelloWorld main.cpp"
8. Press enter
9. type "./HelloWorld"
10. Be on your way to victory
