(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My free Windows 7 Ultimate discs came in today and now I need a harddrive to back my movies, docs, music, and photos etc.

Btw, why do you need to connect the hd to a power outlet? Eek
It isn't just plug in comp via usb?

Lastly, if you know any better, and somewhat cheap hds, feel free to post :p

I believe once it goes above 500GB you'll need to plug in into the mains.

Also Western Digital's never let me down, that's a good hard drive you should get it for sure.

You connect Desktop HardDrives to a Power Outlet as it supplies plenty more energy and increases the read/writing speed.
Yes that is actually the same HardDrive I have and it works great. Smile

If you are looking to copy shit onto it you will notice it is INCREDIBLY fast and it can copy a movie in about 5 seconds over to it.
Else on another harddrive not powered by your outlet could take up to a minute to copy a movie onto it.

Depends really.. on WD drives there is a thing called Smartware which makes you type in a Password to access your Harddrive, but that's optional.

Western Digital Hard Drives are the best Smile it wont let you down (but im not sure if that one comes with password protection)
