Right now I have an Intel Core 2 Quad processor, i'm planning on upgrading to a Intel i7 2600K. Though, i'm not sure if its possible as i've heard I might need to get a new motherboard?
Is this true?

If I remeber correctly your socket now is a LGA 775 the new i7's are LGA 1155. So it would require you getting another motherboard unforchantly
