ATI has the same specs but nvidia has better compatibility, why do you think most games have the nvidia logo somewhere on them? I remember looking at a chart a week or two ago that compared the GTS 450 to its ATI rival in Crysis 2, and the ATI was 29FPS @ max while the nVidia was 36FPS.

Its also not the about the size, you can get nvidia or ATI cards that have 2gb memory that can't run mw2.

But 512MB would be ok to run quite a few games on low??

Basically the memory is how much info it can handle. Its kinda like ram, but a bad card with a lot of memory is no use since it can't put it to any good use as its processing power and graphic capabilities are low.

I'd go for the 512mb one, and that will play TF2 on medium-high and call of duty etc on medium-high.
