I'm sure you saved the "project format" which is like .psd for photoshop, that's not the real video, your file should be an .avi or .wmv or whatsoever
I don't know about C4D but for Sony vegas for exemple, those project files are .veg and cannot be uploaded since they do not contain the actual video

You need to open your project and render the video in your video editor. The option may be called "produce video" - then you can upload the new file to youtube.
