You'll probably get this anyways, so I'd might as well point it out: you can save money and get better performance with a desktop, laptops suck, yadda yadda yadda. Although I don't agree with this, everyone who seems to think they're gods with computers does, so I might as well have said it before anyone else tried to oversell their PC knowledge by doing so.

Just ignore them, because laptops are getting better performance-wise and price-wise as we speak, anyways. The only problem is they're not exactly all future-proof when it comes to extensive gaming, but that'll get better too.

Anyways, if you're going for a decent gaming laptop, try to get at least an i7-2630QM/6770M build (the i7 being the processor and the 6770M being the graphics card.) It's not the most powerful thing in the world, but you could easily run many games on high with it, and probably at least medium in future releases.

Otherwise, I'd wait to see what AMD is doing with their next generation of CPUs, but I've just gotten into laptops so as of now I don't know if they're focusing on any laptop versions.

Meanwhile, I'll look around the site, and see if I can find you one.

EDIT: Also, put it this way, the laptop CPUs from Intel beat the best AMD CPUs for desktops, so it's actually kind of worth it, to be honest. Until the new AMDs come out, and even then there's no way of telling if they'll beat them until they do.

What kind of restrictions does that cause? Are you going to buy one overseas or while you're still in Australia? :p Stupid question, I know. xD

Alright. :p

What's the most reputable PC dealer outside of Dell/HP/etc. in Australia, or is this the site you're sticking with?

Alright, I'll see what I can find, then. It just doesn't seem like they have too much, but I should still be able to find something.

EDIT: This is the best I could find that was even close to worth the money: You must login or register to view this content.

Unfortunately, it kind of goes over your $1,000 mark. Gaspkay:

Oh, yeah. This is more than enough.

Though another route is to find this laptop: HP dv7-6187cl

I don't know how much it is in Australia, or if they even have it in Australia, but my brother got it for about $1,000 USD (which is like $1,070 in AU, I think), so if you could find that for around $1,100, or one with similar specifications for that price, then that's probably the better solution

EDIT: This one is actually the one my brother got, it just has a smaller screen and HDD. The model is LH601UA#ABA
