Post: Can somebody look over this new PC build (help needed)

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My old computer has finally given up on me and instead of buying a complete, i am thinking of building a mid range computer of my own. The problem is this is the first time i have ever done something like this and i am not too sure what i am doing. I will list the items i am thinking of buying, but it would be useful if somebody could tell me if they are all compatible, and whether there is a better option for a similar price Smile

What i am going to buy:

  • Motherboard - ASUS P7P55D-E Intel P55 ATX Motherboard - LGA1156 Socket
  • Processor - INTEL Core i5-760 Processor
  • Case - ANTEC Nine Hundred Two ATX PC Tower Case - Black
  • Processor Cooler - Arctic Cooling Freezer 13
  • Could you also reccommend a case fan or two? Smile

What i already own:

  • Graphics card - ATI AMD RADEON HD 5770 (Extreme Edition)
  • OCZ 600W StealthXStream 2 ATX Power Supply Unit
  • Plenty of RAM, which i will more than likely upgrade in the near future so there is nothing to worry about there

As i said i have never built a PC before, but is there anything else that i need? Also, will the hard drive from my old computer work in the new build without having to format, and without having to reinstall any operating system? Smile

Thanks for your help Smile

What kind of ram do you have? I need to know if it's compatible with the mobo.

2GB, Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-8500 memory

but that is not a major issue because i want to upgrade as soon as possible anyway Smile

Also, that fan is a little over budget, is it necessary or will most cheaper fans do the job?

I do not have a specific budget, but i do not want to spend too much more than what is already there. If you have a reccommendation of a similar price i will look at going a bit higher but not too much Smile
