Post: CMD Help - Shutting down computers, pinging others
11-28-2011, 10:52 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok, so I know the commands of these two things now here is my problem for each of them.

Shutting down a computer
I open - CMD
I type in - Shutdown -i
I add the computer that I want to shut down, but it wont let me access.

Pinging another computer (DOS)
I open - CMD
I type in - Ping (Adress) -t -l (Number of packets)
It tells me that I get Connection Timed-out.

Any clever people that can help me with this, and give me some hints.
Thanks, Regards Sigoray.

Maybe you don't have administrator privileges. I don't know. I've never been into that kinda thing.

But lol... A DOS attack is extremely weak. What are you trying to crash?

Never said I wanted to Crash something. I simply wonder how to DOS people outside of your local network.

If it was that easy to DoS or shutdown someone's computer, don't you think it would be happening all the time?

There's plenty of DoS programs and scripts that hit a lot harder than a ping (pings generally don't have much of an affect on modern computers).

Once again, I was courious about DOS. And I know there's a lot of scripts for it, as I got some DDoS scripts from botnets.

You can't just open up command prompt and shut down someone who is outside of your local. You can if you are all on the same router do so, but past that it is a no. You would need to load something onto their computer, RAT.

DDoS stands for Distributed Denial of Service - the distributed part of that phrase means that the attack has to come from multiple computers. If you had multiple computers pinging a single computer, then it would be a DDoS, otherwise, if it's just one computer pinging another computer it's just a DoS. Note that technically pinging a computer is not a DoS attack - not even remotely.
