Codeacademy has been recognized as a great way for beginners to learn and get into a language. The best way however is still to find a new edition book and go from start to finish.

Issues I've heard with codeacademy is not all your code will be accepted even if it is better or produces the same result.

Codecademy does not teach at a college level in my opinion. It is made just for beginners.
