I'm looking to buy something professional that is for a PC running Windows 8 that can compress/uncompress every type of file that there is like 7zip, rar, zip, etc... I was wondering if there is a program that is by Microsoft that I could buy. I have Stuffit professional that I use on my Mac that works great but it is not for Windows 8. I'm going to be getting a Toshiba Satellite S875-S7376 17.3-Inch Laptop soon that runs Windows 8. Any info that you could give me would be great, thanks.
Sure, just as long as they don't sue me. LOL I've already almost been sued twice. Once for downloading a music cd and once for downloading a movie. Both times I had to do a settlement of $200 that had to be paid to a company that takes care of the settlements. I went to my internet provider each time because that's where the emails were sent from and they told me either I pay the settlement company their $200 or they are going to sue me for a lot more. I must have bad luck because I was even using a site called IsoHunt which they say is supposedly heavily encrypted and your not supposed to be able to be tracked. The joke was on me.
I guess no one here has ever used 7zip? It's open source, has arguably the best compression and it does it all.
I checked Wiki and I see that 7zip can only uncompress rar files but cannot compress them because they do not have the licensing to do so. It seems that most places when asking for a file prefer it to be a rar file. I think that WinRAR seems to be the program that I want. I'm going to try to stick to rar files all the time because they seem to be the best. Thanks for the info everyone. I'm going to buy WinRAR from the official site and buy it on disc. No, but it does zip and I don't know of any place that doesn't accept that. Not only that but even their zip compression is better
