(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So my friend at school is taking tech school and they are learning python. He said he has a great knowledge of programming including java. He also said that python is better than java. This angered me. I love Java.

So tell me, which is better? Do you prefer java or python? Keep in mind how the syntax is, the use ability in different scenarios, and just which ever language you prefer the most. Thanks!

Knowledge is power Tiphat
Good old cup of Java

Honestly if you are just getting into computer programming, Java SHOULD be your FIRST language to learn.

I agree with most people on the depending on what you want to do, but I enjoy .lua almost exclusively for writing apps because of speed it's a lot faster than java and it compiles easier, and is easier to debug. that being said I come from a line of python coders from my teachers to my friends who use python for almost everything. in edge I'd have to give it to python, because it's interpreted meaning you can use it on a usb stick or something on the go and you can also make websites with the django framework or use qt to make simple desktop apps. it's a great beginner language and it's a great expert language.
