Okay, first thing you want to do is start/restart your mac into safe mode, to do that, while booting up hold cmd+s if successful a black screen with alot of white text will pour in.

Now, when the text has stopped appearing write ”/sbin/mount -uw /” (dont forget spaces) then hit enter, now you will see ”:/ root#”, here comes the password part. Type in ”passwd [account name here]” (without [,] ) for example ”passwd Adam”.
Now ”New password:” should show up, heres where you type in your wanted password for the account (even if you are typing it will NOT show up on your screen, keep in mind you are still typing.) After that hit enter, now you must retype the password you entered, again it will not show anything you type on the screen. Hit enter, now if successful there will not be a confirmation message such as ”password changed” just type ”exit” to restart the computer, now your password has been changed.
