Allow you to pick phone carriers from all around the world
Give you a phone number for what ever carrier you choose
Allow you to send and receive text messages
OPTIONAL FEATURES-
Allow you to call people on your computer
Use call forwarding to send all text/calls to your real mobile phone
Maybe this could use skype to make the calls, without having to buy skype credits
I know there are programs out there that send and receive text but I haven't found any that give you a number, nor have I found any to work in Jordan and other Middle Eastern countries
So first off, is this even possible??

Alot of that is possible but no one here is going to do something that big for free, plus someone would have to pay for the required hardware to set up the ability to be able to make calls to begin with

Well for starters, sending texts can be handled through email. So if you bought a domain and set up an exchange server you you could have people register and account and that could be their address. (Since texting is basically emailing) Recieving could pry work the same way. Another way is setting up an SMS gateway (deals with hardware)
As for phone calling, I'm not all that positive on what you would need to accomplish that

heres what i really want to acomplish, sending messages from my pc to a phone and receiving messages to my pc from a phone. Id like to be able to get my own number generated from what ever country I choose.. so do I need email or sms gateway?
