Hello everyone
I discovered this the other day with a friend so all credits don't go to me.
In this tutorial, I'll explain how to get on to the admin session without having the password using a Linux live CD (I use Ubuntu 10.10). This is for Windows 7 but it may work on vista too (I haven't tried it on vista yet)
So to get started you will need to have a live CD (If you don't know what it is, just google it and you'll find loads of tutorials) and obviously the computer you want to get into!
1) Boot up the pc with the live CD and just choose 'Try Ubuntu' (may be different depending what distribution of Linux you choose)
2) Once it's loaded in, go to The main disk drive of the computer (where there is windows, program files..) and navigate to Windows>System32
3) Now all you have to do is look for Utilman.exe and rename it Utilman.exe.bak Then look for cmd.exe and rename it Utilman.exe
4) Now restart the computer without the live CD and when you are on the login page, click on the little circular icon on the bottom right of the screen and it should launch a command line window
5) In the command line window, just type without the quotes "net user administrator /active:yes" and press enter.
6) Close down the command line window and restart the computer again, you will see now see Administrator on the login screen and you can login!!!!
Now that you are on windows, you can go and modify any user's password!! You have now got full access on that computer
If you wan't to get the 'normal' just reboot on the live CD and go to Windows>System32 and rename Utilman.exe to cmd.exe and Utilman.exe.bak to Utilman.exe
p.s: Sorry for the spelling mistakes or if this is already posted and thanks for viewing!
