To your 1st question, this shouldn't f up your laptop because your just entering a code into the Windows activation thing. Your not downloading anything. And to your 2nd question, I'm not sure because I have never tried this method. I already had Windows 7 to start with. I don't think it would work though because Windows Vista and 7 would probably have different codes.

The thread is mine ! hehe ! And you only have to put the code and wait for it upgrade and install the update ! It took me like 1:10 hour !

Well you should use the validator just incase anyways. I'm not sure if he was lying, but trust me there are A LOT of people who have illegal versions of Windows 7 running so I don't know why Microsoft would pick him out of all the people with illegal Windows. I doubt anything would happen to you.
