I don't know about any books but this guy has some good tutorials for python as well as numerous other languages: You must login or register to view this content.

learn 4 first 5 only adds in some new things and takes out old tags also relies on java for flash applications so its a little different then html4 but not all to much more new, also you should first figure out what type of coding language you want to learn web development or software applications

RIP PICHU.
I'm personally working .Net then C#, which I'm starting to get a great understanding of. After getting a great understanding of this language and how it works I plan on moving to C++ where I want to learn everything else I might have missed, since I'm a read and learn or learn from hours of messing up it will help.

Personally, if you want to work on making own websites then learn coding that works towards websites, you will need to know Java as well, which Java can then open you up to application making as well. Personally, I really wish I would have learned HTML rather than application code because it would be cool to have my own site. Smile

Lynda.com makes great videos for new people trying to code, I'm not trying to advertise there site, that's just how they name their dvds they sell, I can get just about any copy of any of their series if needed. Let me know.

I prefer HTML, XHTML, and CSS, Sixth Edition book. This book has a great deal of information, but very poorly put together when it comes to teaching the code. This is about like a textbook, or a self-help book. You don't charge to be an complete beginner to accede the alignment of this book.

My book I use for college is actually really helpful. I find myself looking at that more than I do my notes. I'll find the name and let you know it.
