(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey NGU! My parents has just gotten a notice from the FBI. It says the computer contains illegally downloaded content and you must buy a moneypack card from Wallgreens. You must pay 200$ To Unlock your computer. But I have fixed it without having to pay 200$. Do the following

1). Remove all Power From the Computer. (Take out the Battery and Remove the Charging Cable that charges the computer)

2). Your Computer will boot up and you will have an error. And it will give you 3 Options(1. Start Up Windows Normally, System Repair (Recommended) 3.Safe Mode)

3). Click on System Repair.

4). Let it do its thing then click finish once done.

5). If you have a Anti-Virus Program You will Not be able to scan. The Malware disables you to scan the computer.

6). You can do this and figure a way to un-lock your computer or you can just do a full system restore.

That's ransom malware, sounds like a pretty basic type of ransom malware too, some are a lot more dangerous and sometimes wipe your hard drive and are next to impossible to remove since they override the boot order on your system, so if you don't know how to boot in safe mode, you're pretty much screwed afaik

I actually just got paid to fix my neighbors computer that was infected by this virus. I suggest trying this before a full system restore to prevent the loss of files. Here's what you have to do:

1. Shut the computer down
2. Boot up and hold down F8
3. Scroll down to Safe Mode(With Command Prompt)
4. When it boots up, log-in normally
5. Navigate to C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)
6. Find your antivirus folder
7. In there you should be able to find a .exe that will load up the program
9. Just run that and scan the computer and it should delete it

Should be good to go after that Winky Winky If you have any problems like the Desktop not showing up or anything, let me know.

It will as long as you are in safe mode and haven't been infected for too long. In the event that it doesn't, grab a USB and stick a few different anti-virus programs on that thing. Plug it in, and load them off of the USB using command prompt Winky Winky

Do a barrel roll!
this is one of the oldest scams in computer history

e.g. where the guy holds your computer for ransom you pay them they uninstall it.
how i got rid of mine back in 06 was with a windows xp iso i had downloaded around that time. just re did my whole computer i keep all my files backed up regularly so it was no big deal.
