Does the dvd/cd drive of a laptop has only one interface or 2?
example, in desktops there are SATA and IDE.
thanks in advanced for who is going to help me.

The protocol is probably standard (either IDE or SATA) but I'd guess that the connector layout is different between manufacturers. If you're Dell, you don't want people buying IBM cd/dvd drives for their Dell laptop.
