In my opinion, the fan on it is really loud. I'm worried about turning the fan down in MSI Afterburner because I don't want the thing to overheat. Would my best option be an aftermarket cooler? If so, what should I look for?

Not particularly sure why those fans are that loud, but you know you can just leave the fans on auto and the card won't overheat right? You don't need to leave it at a fixed speed at all times.

From what I've seen this is a great one: You must login or register to view this content.

You can get another cooler like Millz said, i personally would never go with XFX for a GPU. i heard they get hot, and are noisy.
Artic cooling have a lot of really good GPU coolers. this one will be good You must login or register to view this content. and it is pretty much silent.

Lol, look at the GTX 480, it would run full load at 104 degrees C.

I have the i5 2500k. I'm fairly sure it's the GPU though because when I use MSI Afterburner to turn the fan speed down it's much quieter.

Not the CPU, the CPU fan/cooler. If you haven't bought any fan with it thats likely what it is. The stock fan is terribly loud.
There is no reason why that GPU should be loud (unless you have it in an extremely small case, with terrible cable management).
