Do you want webhosting for only 1 site or for a many sites?
CentOS is the best for that, and you can start by installing it to an old computer.
Then put SSH (Remote Terminal) on it, and install Apache, PHP and a webhosting panel on it.
Google is your friend with that, its pretty easy.
