I also have a problem that many programs on my computer no longer run properly. For example skype, visual studio, u torrent and many others when opened just freeze and stop responding. Iv tried re-installing programs countless times but nothing seems to work
I have searched everywhere on the internet but all I could find is that my CPU needs a new layer of thermal paste.

All help and advice is much appreciated, I hope I made sense.

As 1up said give your heat sink and fans a good hoover i did this and pc run about 5 degrees lower and quieter.

Check if all your fans are working properly.

Thermal paste will need to be re-applied from time to time. You'll need some isopropyl alcohol and a clean micro fibre cloth to wipe away the old paste off the heatsink and the cpu.
