Last night I downloaded a clean up software and driver updater. Ran all scans and updated drivers, now when I start up my laptop its stuck on windows update configuration. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Clean up software wreaks havoc on your registry and probably re arranged some entries in it or deleted them and now your computer can't tell if it needs an update or not, I suggest you use the windows recovery tool to back up from an earlier date.
Can you please list the exact software you used so we can access the damages?

Hey F33L,
sorry for late reply. No internet connection really is a pain. Took your advise and rolled back to an earlier restore point. The software used was Advanced system care and IObit driver update....not sure if these would cause an issue. No doubt it was my doing by accepting to delete stuff suggested by the software.
