Ultimate PC cleaning Thread!

This thread is for anybody who wants their PC to be faster, More efficient, and cleaner . Cleaning can allow the PC to cool much faster and less heat will build.




Requirements for cleaning Inside:

Air compressor: I would choose to use this before anything. Its quick and easy and removes dust properly. Do not go too close to the motherboard though. It will work fine from a distance. It is also best to remove the cpu fan and clean all that seperatly.

Brush ( Paint Brush sort ) These are best if you don't want to go out and buy compressed air to clean your computer. This can get in all the little spaces, especially inbetween the corners of most the components.

Compressed air can: When you clean inside your computer case, this disposable compressed air can that will blow the dust out. Be sure to keep the can upright, otherwise it will leak liquid.

Simple Steps

Once you are ready and prepared, go ahead and open up the case from the sdie of the PC tower. I recommend starting from the fan , as this gets rid of any dust into the computer and is a very important element to cool down the computer.

Once that is done I would slowly start cleaning the Motherboard with compressed air/or can of compressed air, and slowly blow out any dust from the reaches of the cornors, and again close to any chips. Becareful not to tilt the can because it can start to leak liquid from it :O! You should now clean and remove the dust by easily weiping the dust from the cover plate holes where the air excapes from the PC. You can now slap on the cover plate once you think that it's all good


Cleaning the Exterior: Requirements

Water: Use water sparingly. It should only be used to slightly dampen your cloth. You do not want water dripping all over your computer.

Rubbing alcohol: I always choose to use this before water as it evaporates fast. It is also great for cleaning dirt and oily marks from the inside the computer case, mouse and keyboard.

Cloth: (lint free) You should use a cloth to clean the exterior of the case, the mouse, cords, and keyboard. Only slightly damp. Fold your cloth over a few times to get in between the keys on the keyboard.

Vacuum: You can use a vacuum cleaner to extract dust and food crumbs from your keyboard. Do not use it to clean inside your computer case as it may damage your components.

Cotton Wool or Swabs: Also good for reaching those hard to reach places.

Car dash oil: This is great for blending in scratches on monitors and sometimes cases, like a Dell GX270 desktop. Don’t use too much, as you do not want it dripping into the monitor air vents.

Eucalyptus oil: I use this to remove permanent pen from monitors or cases. Just put some on a cloth and rub on the writing and it will start to dissolve.


Simple Steps:


Simply using some of the items above you can effectively clean the outside of the PC from pen to food, or even Jizz :carling: ! Make sure to clean the keyboard as that can get VERY dirty with crumbs from like cookies As mine had plenty of cookie crumbs :p

No problem check out the new things I added

My PC doesn't get dirty. Newer PC cases have small grids in front of the intake fans to prevent dust from getting in.

i need somthing to clean my ****ing laptop it used to be quick but its slow and the fan sounds like a ****ing dyson

Yea bro use, Compressed air thats your best bet :y: It cleans very well especially on laptops, cuz it gets in small areas

i might one day laptops arnt as easy as pc's to open, but thanks
