This Guide was written by NGU's Mudkip

Listing your item

Before you list the item, make sure you know all the eBay rules first, because if your item is not allowed, your going to get bad feedback (-rep! :O) Take one or more pictures of your item in a good surrounding area so that the picture is good and that buyers can truly see the item they are buying, if you are selling, e.g. a PS3, do not put up a picture from Google images, even if your PS3 is in bad condition, buyers like to know what they are buying. Choose the most simple category for your item, or list it in more than one items. E.g. for the PS3, just list it in consoles. Make your title clear, to help buyers search for your item, include the product name and brand, so if I was selling a slim PS3 with 60GB hard drive, I should list it as "Sony PlayStation 60GB slim console"

Pricing

Plan what price you are going to put on the item, don't just throw any old price on it that could be too little or too expensive. I recommend searching eBay listings of the same product that have ended, use the same price as these and you will sell. Also consider your P&P price (postage and packaging) if you want to make exactly £200 for the PS3, I recommend listing it at £180 and making P&P £20, this will make it more appealing to buyers, (this is just an example, P&P can only be put up to £15 on eBay). Another useful tip is, if you do not want to post the item, select local pick up, this means the buyer will come to you and you won't have to spend anything on postage.

Expand your selling options

Use multi-quantity listings to list items that are very similar all at once with a Buy It Now price. Create listings with variations in a single fixed price listing. E.G., you can list a T-shirt in different sizes and colors in a single listing instead of creating separate listings for each variation, which would also cost you more. Add requirements, if you do not want to sell your items abroad, clearly state it in the description or somewhere else. Offer PayPal as a payment, this is the easiest way to pay for buyers and they would prefer it if it was an option. It is also the most secure method of payment.

Communicating with your buyers

Make sure you attract the right buyers to your item, when your item sells, make sure to check the buyers profile for his feedback, if it is 0, he may be untrustworthy, I would recommend putting a buyer requirement on, I think the buyer should have at least 10 positive feedback (gold star You must login or register to view this content.). Make sure that your contact information and email address are right. Check your personal information to make sure it is also right. Also, check that any spam blocking software you have installed doesn't prevent a buyer from communicating with you, this sometimes happens. If you lose internet for a week and within this week, your listing is ending, make sure you have an alternative way to get onto eBay, If you have a smart phone, E.g. Blackberry, I-phone, android, I recommend downloading the eBay app, it is very useful and it keeps you up-to-date on everything, you can also communicate and message buyers on the app.

Maintain "Buyer Satisfaction"

Maintaining buyer satisfaction will help you build a solid reputation as a trustworthy seller on eBay. Ultimately, a good reputation will help drive your sales activity. Like trustworthy level on NGU Smile. When a seller lists an item on eBay, and a buyer buys or wins that item, the seller and buyer have made a sort of contract that both of them need to follow or they will get bad feedback (-rep). the best things to maintain satisfaction are:

To accurately describing the condition, size, and quality of the item.
To send the item with appropriate packaging after payment has been received, as quickly as you can, to get the best feedback.
To reply quickly and politely to questions from the buyer.
To communicate with the buyer about when the item will be sent.
To Issuing refunds if you accept returns or when there are problems with delivery (hardly ever happens).
To quickly resolving problems with the buyer so the buyer doesn't have to contact eBay. If a buyer does open a case in the Resolution Center (like a dispute on NGU), reply quickly and try to cooperate with what the buyer says is wrong. Maintain "Buyer Satisfaction"

Other ways to customize your listing

    Timing your listing:
Try and select the longest listing time possible, this will increase your chances of selling, if your listing is an auction, it will also increase the chances of you selling your item for more than you would have got if the listing was shorter.
    Making your listing stand out:
You can give your item a subtitle for only an extra 35P, this will help your listing stand out and you can write anything on there, like: "delivery within 24 hours" anything that will make your listing seem more appealing.
    Themes:
Themes will make your listing look more attractive and much more appealing to buyers.
    Pictures:
Adding your first picture if the most important, it needs to be the best it can be, this is because the buyers can see this picture when they search for items and if you picture isn't appealing, they won't click it! You can upload up to 12 pictures and I recommend doing this, buyers can view different angles of your item. E.G. if you were selling a car, you should definitely put up 4 pictures, if not more, take one from the front, one from the back and one from both sides of the car, if buyers can only see one angle of the car, they won't buy it, because they want to see as much as they can!

Ok guys, thanks for reading, hope this helps you become a better eBay seller =D Please not too much hate because I am only trying to help!

(P.S, to moderators, if this is in the wrong section, PLEASE move it! I don't want it to be closed just for being in the wrong section , i didn't know where to put it, so i put it here, thanks!)
