I'm assuming 'mains' is some sort of power? What kind of condition is you battery in? Go to: Applications>Utilities>System Profiler>Power>Then you will see Battery Information, what I want to know is: Full charge capacity (mAh). What is the number?

Now you can buy the batteries in the store. In the future never keep your computer plugged in all day. Its good to have cycles, which means unplug your computer till it is almost dead. If you have it plugged in all day it can puff. The batteries that are used in the computer are called lipo's or Lithium. There are chemical strips in between the layers of cells. This may be hard to understand at first, but just dont leave your computer plugged in all day.
