It's really as simple as...

Install it!

When the CD is ready, simply put it in your CD drive, restart your computer(Edit the bios settings) and follow the instructions that appear on your screen. Smile

For a USB I would suggest Ubuntu 11.04 so just goto You must login or register to view this content. and download the .iso, but you will need a PC with Windows on it first.
Insert a USB stick with at least 2GB of free space
You must login or register to view this content.
Click 'Run' when prompted
If the security dialog appears, confirm by clicking 'Run'
Read the licence agreement and choose 'I Agree' to continue
Select Ubuntu 11.04 from the dropdown list
Click 'Browse' and open the downloaded ISO file
Choose the USB drive and click 'Create'
Then turn your Dell mini off.
Power it back on and before it starts there should be a option for boot menu or bios menu. Press the button for boot menu if there is one if not press bios menu, If you went into boot menu choose to boot from USB if you went into Bios, navigate to the boot menu section and move the removable USB device to the top of the boot list now save. The screen should now go black and have writing, thats normal. Now the screen will go purple and have the Ubuntu logo. Now follow the onscreen instructions and now you have Linux =D
