hey guys, a couple of days ago i decided to grab my old desktop and pull it apart so i can upgrade some of the components (something which i have never tried before). Now, i have managed to remove the majority of components but im faced with two problems which are a pain in the ass.
1. i am having trouble removing my power supply. i have disconnected it completely from all components but i cannot disconnect it from the motherboard. i have tried many times with my dad but the socket wont disconnect. I am worried that if i pull to hard i could damage or even break the motherboard. can anyone give me advice for how i could remove it safely?
here is the socket i am talking about, (just above where the ram goes)

2. the next problem i face is removing the optical drives. I have completely disconnected them from the powersupply and unscrewed them from their sockets but when we go to pull them out they wont budge, they move a tiny bit but we cant remove them more than a 1/4 of the way out. Any suggestions on how i can remove them?
sorry for the poor image but heres one to give you an idea of how the drives are placed
