Well I have built computers for many years. I have built a good 20 or so, and I remember when there was video cards with 32MB memory, and that was amazing! Now what really tick's me off is all the people on here are giving the wrong advice to the "newbies". If you want to build just a gaming computer is actually
LESS expensive/harder to build that a normal multitasking one. Now obviously this is just for gaming and a little serfing. Gaming computers are not as expensive as some user's on here may lead you to believe.
These are some specs of a 6 year old pc I got for free.
cpu: intel pentium 4 @ 3.6Ghz (no dual/quad core, it's a single)
ram: 1GB
motherboard: idk but it's old, and cba to look
video card: gt8600 512MB
obviously that isn't all the specs, but those are the main ones we are looking at, now these are not overclocked, or super cooled. just stock.. It can run mw2 at 33 avg FPS. That is around $200 if even that. See you don't need a super computer.
But that's kind of shitty tbh, you can make a way better one for cheaper. If you plan on being the average gamer, you can expect something with these kind of specs, and get a good 60-60+ FPS on BF3 + MW3.
cpu: intel i3
ram: 2GB
video card: gtx550/saphire 6750 @ 1GB
see? it's not that expensive, and believe it or not the actual average gamer specs. It is not that great for multitasking but just playing games alone, that's great!
Here are some of what you might have seen/heard on about on here. These are high end gamers specs, and this is what we "dream" about, but not all of us had. People talk about expensive rigs, but in reality it's overkill. There talking about quad sli/crossfire configurations with GTX590's and such producing 1000+ FPS which is unnecassary because our brains cannot "render" 1000+ FPS. yeah that have i7 which was ment for video rendering, and multitasking but not needed for gaming, you may of also heard about SSD's which would play games faster, but it just loads them faster, not actual gameplay. You also do not need 16+ GB of ram, that is so crazy, I want to punch people that say that, you need 4GB Max, and 2GB recommended, as that is what most games play.
so in the end, you do not need some super crazy machine, you can just get average gaming computer for a good $400-500. So think smart not hard, and go get yourself a good gaming computer that is user/price friendly

enjoy!
