Post: Did I make the right Xmas choice?
12-20-2011, 03:24 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So for Xmas this year I asked for a Macbook Pro (yeah I'm spoiled :fyea: ) but really, do you think this was the right choice? Don't flame, and don't comment if you a PC fanboy and going to have a biased comment.

So comment and vote!

Thanks-
Nick

honestly it depends on what you re getting it for... if you are a dedicated computer gamer i would not suggest it (poor support) however mac books are very powerful in other areas.

It all depends on what it's gonna be used for.
You would get more for the money if you bought a custom built PC, but a Mac is not a bad choice at all.

Gamer? PC would be a better choice.
The average computer guy? Good choice.
Media/Editing? Good
Programming? I really don't know.

And I love my Macbook Pro, I have heard good things about the Macbook Air but I was looking for a more primary computer and the Macbook Pro was my choice. I just bought the base one for $1299 then I upgraded the RAM to 8GB. I still have the 320GB was going to upgrade to a 500GB or 1TB but it's a pain in the ass to lose everything and it was not needed and SSD's are just too much plus if I got one I would want at least a 256GB and there like $500... But you will want a case imo to keep it looking good. Below I will post a few accessories I use my self.

If you want a keyboard protector (Which will keep you from getting crumbs etc. under it which will happen...) You must login or register to view this content.

If you want a palm guard (Which will keep from where you put your wrist and palms from starting to change colors which will happen...) You must login or register to view this content.

If you want a nice clean case to protect the computer it's self from getting scratched etc. You must login or register to view this content.

That's pretty much if you want anything else let me know and I can probably reccommend you something.

Thanks man! I will look into all of those, and yes I think I will update mine to 8 GB of RAM aswell, but thanks for the post!

Yea I would reccomend not buying factory ram because it is no better and 10x as much you can get good after market ram that runs the same for $30-$50 and factory is like $300

It should be like this :

Gamer? PC has more game than mac and pc runs any game , mac doesn't .
The average computer guy? Good choice :y:
Media/Editing? Best Choice :y:
Programming? mac sucks in programming , pc would be better .

I bought You must login or register to view this content. now it is back up to regular price of $39.99 which is still rather cheap and it runs great. But if you buy December 26th or before you get 25% off with this code: EMCJHHK54 There are also other choices including You must login or register to view this content. where you can get 8GB, 12GB and even 16GB of ram! Now I'm not but if your really rich get the 16GB it would run like a damn racehorse compared to a gimping donkey. Now indeed it is $329.99 but it has to be insane! There are some other companies but those are two good ones anyway.

16 GB would be a little overpowered compared to his usage.

I realize that it would still be amazing not saying I would reccomend investing in it but if I was rich and have a few grand lying around or could get anything I wanted I would do it. :y:
