Bring back the smileys!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So, I just bought a 50-pack of DVD+R's, and thought I'd test it out by burning a new Linux OS installer onto it. I put the DVD+R into the drive, and turned off the computer. I turned it back on again, went into the BIOS and changed the boot order so that my CD/DVD drive went first. However, when I saved my settings and exited, it just went straight to my GRUB loader (I'm dual-booting Linux Mint 12 and Windows 7). Any tips as to why this isn't working?

Usually you have to go to the boot selection screen which is something like DEL F8 or F12.

Then that should allow you to select where you want to boot from.

Does the CD work in Windows itself? Did you burn the .iso correctly? I'd suggest Deamon Tools or Alcohol 120%

Hi
you simple can't jump from 1.6ghz to a 3.0ghz chip it does not work that way as the motherboard you have is not designed for a 3.0ghz processor.
something may be changed in the BIOS if this is a compatible upgrade but i would be surprised if this could be achieved.

having been building desktops and been involved with laptops since the mid 1990's this sort of upgrade is not a good idea.
when buying a motherboard it is always best to buy the processor with it and the type of ram memory as compatibility is always an issue.
