still the same OG, but I've been low key
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Finally got the money to upgrade from my AMD build. Here's what I have so far, I'm only waiting on the case and parts for watercooling:

Mobo: Asus Sabertooth Z77
Case: Danger Den Tower 26 - UV Green
CPU: Intel i7 - 3770 LGA1155
HDSad Awesome Seagate 1.5 TB (internal)
HDSad Awesome Seagate 1 TB (external)
SSSad Awesome OCZ Agility 3 120GB (SATA III)
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 (will upgrade to 16 GB when I get the money)
GFX: XFX Radeon HD 6870 (will upgrade to a 7970 when I get the money or the price is reduced)
PSU: Thermaltake 750w

What do you guys think?

Get the K version of that CPU for overclock abilities.
Get a Crucial M4 or Samsung 830 SSD, the OCZ models aren't great.
8GB of RAM is plenty.
Have a look at the 670 instead of the 7970.

Other than that looks great.

Eh, I was close enough to perfection. I have been considering Nvidia, it will really just come down to my budget.

The 670 is actually cheaper than the 7970, by about 70euros, but the difference in performance is minimal.
Perhaps 5-10frames, but both cards with get over 60 on most games easily.

Comparison:
You must login or register to view this content.

Mainly take a look at the lower section, the Crysis game is old enough and shouldn't be used as a benchmark game still.
BF3 is there, the 670 actually is getting 25fps increase on some resolutions.

PS. Not an Nvidia fanboy, I just think the 670 is the best card for someone with this budget.
You could also look at the 680 which is only a little bit more than the 7970 but again, probably not worth the extra 30-40euro.

with that gpu you wont need a upgrade for a few years right now the radeon 7950 and 7970 are overpriced as they cant beat the 670, it looks solid is that a case for custom watercooling? OCZ are great SSD but not on the m4 and intel level, you don't need 16gb unless you video edit etc, if you do get the i7 3820 as it has alot more cache for those programs

crysis is old shouldnt be used but its still good for the lower cards like the 7850 or 650ti if they make that i agree it shouldn't be used for high end graphics cards

all you people saying 670 is better, thats not strictly true. at clock speeds the 670 is about equal. however, add in abit of overclocking, and the 7970 runs away. you can OC it so much more and it scales far better. the 7970 oc even rivals a 680 oc due to the fact that it si so much easier at overcloking. so yeah, 670 is better if you intend not to overclock. but add in a little bit of overclocking and the 7970 is a far better option.

Overclocking is possible on the 670 too.
I never said the 670 was better, I said the 7970 wasn't worth the extra 60-70euro.

custom watercooling is a giant waste of money in my opinion as you won't get much more preformance than a regular corsair h100 and you will spend <300$ its more for looks and you might want a bigger eATX mobo for the brackets so they don't hit your ram

wut.

Watercooling isn't just for the CPU. Once you start your own custom watercooling you can add so much. You can watercool your GPU, RAM and CPU as well.

I would have gotten a custom watercooling setup but I couldn't find any in stock around my location. And I couldn't be bothered waiting 3 weeks + shipping for the parts.

But if you have the patience and time, it's well worth it.
