I was watching a youtube video when all of a sudden my mac went completly black, no response from the hard drive or the cooling fans. How can I fix this, or should I just return it?

Considering its a $1500 laptop, I would take it back kay:

yes return it why would you even attempt to fix it it would in validate your warrenty from factory or them even wanting to ever look at it even at a cost put it that way take it back to the store you bought from and ask for another mac

Yes you should return it. Although I do feel that you already have by this point in time. Ignore the Apple haters. I love my gaming PCs but when it comes to laptops, Apple is what I prefer.
