(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I've been asking myself this almost since I first got my laptop, why aren't games running as smooth as expected? Here are my specs:

Processor: i5-2430M 2.40 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
(64-bit)
Display Driver: Intel HD Graphics 3000

I think those are all the specs I need...
Anyway, I think that it is the display driver/graphics card (not sure what it's called). To be more specific, I got BF3 (for PC), expecting to have tons of fun. I start it up, settings on LOWEST possible, I don't recall a second where the fps was above 10 (approximately). Not to mention, my gun was constantly appearing/disappearing, and it was virtually impossible for me to play multiplayer. Heck, even campaign was practically unplayable. Now, I play Minecraft a lot, and I don't want to get too into this, but either I'm expecting too much, or something isn't clear. I play minecraft with a 16x16 texture pack, normal render distance, fancy, smooth lighting, and optifine installed, and I average around 30-50 fps. Any info/comments about my pc are greatly appreciated.
Also, I'm a little discouraged to buy any other pc games, assuming it will probably be laggy too. Is this a correct assumption or is BF3 an exception?

HD Graphics 3000 is a very poor integrated solution by Intel. Unfortunately you have no upgrade path since your on a laptop. BF3 is particularly demanding, however you should be able to play some games such as COD on low settings with it.

You can buy a external graphics card which will make it run any games no problem. Smile

external graphics card? How does that work? From what I've heard, laptops are stuck with the graphicd card they come with. Thanks to everyone else by the way, I had a feeling it was the graphics card. well, now i know to buy a pc with a good graphics card next time.

It's kinda expensive, but you would need to get a Vidock, then get a graphics card to put in it.

I read up online about those, and although they do look good, apparently they are incapable of reaching what a desktop can do. Then, I looked on cyberpower, and found a few pc's under $700 that look great. Getting a new pc would probably be the better solution in this case. After all, christmas is only 3.5 months away, and getting a vilock would probably just be something to hold me over until then.
