Post: Need Some Recovery Help

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello Everyone, as you can probably tell from my title, I've gotten myself into a bit of a jam. I tried to reinstall Windows 7, and thought I had made sure to back up everything I would need, but appantly I missed some things, as I am missing almost all of my programs. In the process of reinstalling, I got a message that a backup would be installed.

Now while I try to get everything back together, I noticed that there is a new partition "RECOVERY (ESmile". Is there any way to use this to restore everything, or possibly another method?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Did you check to see if Windows made Restore Points? I know on my HP Touchsmart, once a week or when a program is installed, it makes a restore point, which basically puts my computer back a minute before the program(s) were installed.

^That is just to get your computer back to normal. Once there, then read how to properly make a Restore Point. I will keep you posted because I am in the process of learning myself. I thought a back up was all I need and I think you need to make a back up plus a system image cd. Not to sure though.

The recovery partition is there to repair Windows if there is an error at start-up. Since you have formatted your drive to re-install windows the allocation table has been deleted, but you may still have a chance to get your data back. There are many data recovery tools available on the internet. Good luck

System restore will no longer work since he destroyed the original installation of Windows.
