Heres a couple of things to check;

Viruses, Spyware etc

SSD = Solid State Drive. It's a second hard drive you normally store your OS and other system related files on.

Overcloking means putting your PC, say for example your graphics card beyond what it was set at in the factory.

Upgrading? Try buying some new parts if your PC is Old. Your RAM seems fine maybe a new CPU?

- First off check how much GB you have left that's the first cause of Slow PC and addition to that if you did a factory restore on your PC a virus is the last problem on the list but not impossible as they can survive a Restore if the Drive was not partitioned correctly and very small chance reside in the Ram but Highly unlikely.
- Second check your Drive as if you did a Window in-stallion it would keep old files in there and named Old Window which are usually files kept behind like Docs., Pics, Vids.
- Third Make sure everything is updated that's needed via Window update
- Fourth get an Anti virus to double check I use Avast which had kept me virus free
- Fifth BIOS Update as the Bios can sometime cause slow computers
Getting an SSD can be pretty expensive as they are usually double the price of a regular harddrive and half the space and like Purple Passion said if your computer does not have the right specs Window 8 will only slow down your computer, upgrade once you find that all else fails. Best thing you can do is use Window Disk Disk Defragmenter as it helps a lot and it comes pre-install free

You guys are missing the point the HDD itself might be damaged or have a bad response time. Because of this, it can slow a computer down immensely considering a good amount of just windows is read off the hard drive.
