I've been through various tutorials online and it hasn't helped the problem. If you anyone could help me discover what is making some show and others not it would be really helpful. Movies are in mp4 and I use Media Player Classic Home Cinema to play them on my laptop whenever I do (I normally use the USB port on the back of my TV).

Wait are they not showing on your laptop or Tv? I sometime play movies through my Tv via Usb and most problems I encounter are Format problems from either it doesn't show, play, or missing something. Try converting it to another format such as AVI.

It's probably the video format
