Worth the Weight
Yeah I can say that Mac OS X is an incredible OS. If I could run it along with everything that Windows has and have all the same compatibility as Windows does (DX 11 etc), then I would obviously be running OS X instead of Windows. The hardware optimization is outstanding, and the OS is very easy to use. I picked up a MacBook Air and I was instantly up and on my feet around the OS, sometimes I even accidentally try to use command+q to close things on my gaming rig, just out of habit.

The thing that I never really understood is that Macintosh laptops are actually quite competitive when you factor everything in. A MacBook air has 7 hour battery (with actual WiFi usage). The unibody aluminum design is unlike any other laptop that I've seen, and the sheer quality of every single little detail on the laptop is sheerly outstanding.

I don't think you really understand what the laptop is made for. The MacBook air is not made for gaming, all ultrabooks have Integrated Graphics (HD 4000). All laptops of this nature are not meant for gaming, rather web surfing as well as extreme portability. You think that the MacBook Air performs bad? It's going to perform just as poorly as those cheaply built Acer ultrabooks while gaming.

You seem to be using last gen's one, however even during the last gen, all competing ultrabooks had similar specs. Overall, I wouldn't call anything beyond 1- 1.5 inches thick a laptop anymore. Anything beyond that and it becomes much more difficult to carry around as it is heavy, and the battery life starts to suffer as well. Overall, I am very happy with my MacBook Air and can honestly say that there is nothing wrong with Apple's market strategy, and they are leading the laptop world for a reason. Their phones, are a different story though Winky Winky

Grumpy
Grumpy is God.
I just love Macs because of the flawless ness of them, the way the programs run and all. The little amount of viruses. And it's not that Mac viruses are harder to make as others might think there not its just that Mac only runs about 7% of the market so to target the larger group they hit PCs also Windows has let their OS get so out of hand virus wise there is really no fixing it but Mac on the other hand its not that there isn't viruses that are big and spread and all there is its just that when one gets big at all it is stopped usually within hours of it becoming a problem. Apple stays on top of their shit when it comes to viruses.

I prefer the OS of Macs over PCs but phones on the other hand while I currently own a iPhone I do think I will get a Droid phone next because of the fact that iPhones are just S.S.D.D they don't change.

What did you expect you were going to do with it? It's the PERFECT laptop for taking notes, typing stuff, doing really any kind of school work, and surfing the web.

Though if I were buying one I'd get a 13" screen, 2.0Ghz i7, and 8gb RAM.

I want to play around with it really and get a good feel for it but I can't seem to do that.

Although I was bashing Mac in my earlier posts, I definitely would buy one if I had the money and took the time to learn how to use OS X.

Try a different build of linux. There are many of them out there and I'm sure there's one that you'll like. Mabye you won't ever prefer linux over Windows or OS X, but I'm sure that if you find the version that's for you, you'll start liking it.

All of the same things you mentioned above. Plus it's free. Not dissing OS X, just making a point.
I wouldn't say the programming and overall design of OS X or Linux is better than Windows though (although I wouldn't say it's worst either).

On another note, how does Windows try to emulate OS X?

It doesn't, he's just some sort of fanboy. Apple is well known to copy, play it off like they created, and say it's "magic." That all being said Apple really hasn't created anything. The only thing of I can think that Apple truly created is software and for instance we all know how OS 9 ended up.

Got a MacBook Pro and iMac - both excellent.

A bit off topic, but has anyone got an iPad Mini?
