Ubuntu has the option when you're setting it up to dual boot. It shouldn't be a problem.

Open the terminal, sudo apt-get install awesome and log out of you desktop select awesome from the log in screen, then look like a pro hacker with a new window manager.

Anyways, with your problem, you should be able to go into your BIOS and change boot to "Select on startup". I was able to anyways, as I have Windows 7 and Linux BT5 on dualboot on my computer.
