(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so in school, I signed up for this "advanced" computer science course. It's the same as the grade 11 computer science course (and runs at the same and class) but it's like more well, advanced LOL and they teach you the stuff that you'd normally see in an "Intro to Comp Sci" course in college. Anyway, I signed up for this last spring. Apparently the teacher that was supposed to teach this course resigned and got a job at another school because her job there would be much easier. So now, there's this new teacher that doesn't know what to do with this advanced comp sci course because the old teacher was planning it out in the summer but then she suddenly resigned. I was asked if I wanted to do this thing anyway. There's this huge textbook (1000 pages) that teaches you all about Java, and if I want to do the advanced program, I have to finish the book before I graduate high school (which is 2 years). He said that he started reading the book in the summer and had already done 1/4 of the book so it's pretty do-able.

Anyway, down to the point: Should I do this thing? If I do, it would mean that I'll be going ahead of the class, and maybe even my teacher. I think going ahead of the teacher is just too much lol Ahead of the class I can handle but my teacher? I don't know. If I finish the book (which I probly will...) I can take this test and if I get a score of 5 then I can get a $300 scholarship and I get to skip some beginner courses in college.

So what you are referring to is Advanced placement Computer Science? If it is then i can honestly say that teaching yourself the course is doable, i did it myself last year, however the book you have might go more in depth than is necessary. My advice is to read the whole book and to check out the ap website for what topics are covered in testing and focus on reviewing there.

If you need any help, i did manage to get 5 on my exam.

This one? You must login or register to view this content.

Yeah I read a copy of an exam from 2009, and it seemed do-able.

Thanks I'm gonna tell my teacher tomorrow that I'll go ahead of the class Smile
